About Our Fellowships

The idea behind our fellowships is to support students, early-stage researchers, and media practitioners interested in the intersection of sports and society. Our fellowships are designed to offer a unique opportunity for individuals to delve into the world through sports. We support deep research, expounding ideas, asking questions and seeking answers.

We consider our fellowships an interesting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of knowledge, innovation, and progress in the field.

Scope of Work:

As our research fellow,  will:

– Conduct in-depth research on women’s sports in Africa, focusing on key stakeholders, organizations, and initiatives

– Develop a robust database of individuals and organizations driving women’s sports development in Africa

– Collaborate with our team to design a user-friendly database interface, facilitating easy access and navigation

– Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives, promoting the database as a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners

– Analyze the database to identify gaps, trends, and areas for growth in women’s sports development in Africa

– Present research findings: Share research insights through webinars, workshops, or conferences

Project Impact:

This research fellowship is a critical component of our mission to drive the actualisation of SDG 5 and 10 through sport and amplify the work and achievements of the people tirelessly developing women’s sports in Africa. By developing this database, we aim to:

– Enhance visibility and recognition of women’s sports initiatives in Africa

– Foster connections and collaborations among stakeholders

– Inform policy and programming decisions, promoting greater investment in women’s sports development

– Identify areas of need and opportunity for growth, enabling targeted interventions and resource allocation

Introducing Our Newest Fellowship Recipient

Research Fellowship Award: African Sports Equity Fellowship

After a closed call, we are delighted to announce the recipient of our first African Sports Equity fellowship.

We welcome Enitan Abdultawab, who has been selected as the recipient of our African Sports Equity Fellowship, dedicated to developing a comprehensive database on women's sports in Africa. Abdultawab demonstrated exceptional research acumen, a passion for promoting equity and bridging parity through sports, and a perceptive understanding of the African context.

Over the next four months, he will be working closely with our team to deliver the goals of the fellowship. We are thrilled to have them on board.
